What is Solar Rakyat?
Solar Rakyat is a solar PV system from Gading Kencana that offers solar PV installation under the Net Energy Metering 3.0 (NEM 3.0) program of the NEM Rakyat category.
The NEM Rakyat program is a program offered by the Malaysian government to encourage the use of solar energy, especially among homeowners. This program provides an opportunity for Malaysians to save on electricity consumption through the solar energy offset method.
Under the People’s NEM category, the offset rate offered is higher with a “1 to 1” calculation when excess solar energy is exported to the utility grid. What is Solaris?
Solar For Rakyat Incentive Scheme (SolaRIS) – Residential customers can receive a cash rebate of up to RM4,000 by applying for the Net Energy Metering (NEM) program through the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia.
Starting from 1 April 2024, this rebate is available to those who successfully complete and commission their solar PV system installations with TNB. This initiative is designed to support homeowners in adopting renewable energy and reducing electricity costs.

NEM is an incentive scheme introduced by the government that allows customers to install solar PV systems on their roofs and allows the energy generated from solar to be used first. Yes. The NEM scheme comes with quotas managed by the Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA). The current NEM 3.0 offer will expire on December 31, 2023 and quota availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. We will schedule a site evaluation to your home to study your home’s roof structure. If your roof cannot be used to install a Rakyat Solar system, we will return the deposit to you. Each of our installations is guaranteed by a statutory roof structure consultant registered with the Malaysian Board of Engineers.
The energy generated by a solar system varies based on weather, system capacity and surrounding factors such as shading. In Malaysia, we usually use an average of 3.5 hours of peak sun to calculate the energy generated by the solar system.
